Virtual Reality environments to reduce dental anxiety
The presence of pain and anxiety during dental procedures often proves to be a hurdle for the patient, the operator, and even for the successful outcome of the procedure, risking compromising access to dental care and posing a challenge for both the patient and the professional.
This study aims to explore an innovative solution to mitigate anxiety during dental treatments by focusing on the application of Virtual Reality (VR). Seven patients were selected to participate in a VR experience during dental procedures to assess its effectiveness in reducing fear and improving the overall patient experience. Preliminary results indicate a positive impact of the technology in creating a distraction environment, demonstrating its potential to isolate patients from bothersome stimuli during treatments.
This research aims to contribute to the progress of dental practice through the effective integration of Virtual Reality, opening new perspectives to improve the quality of care and promote greater patient adherence.
